Atsushi Takenouchi JINEN Butoh workshop with Live Music

“BREATH”

Breath is essential for all the lives. The earth is also breathing through hundreds millions year. We can find many different breath in this world. Breath of animals. Breath of stones. Breath of lights... In this workshop, we use breath which is a starting point for all existence as a theme. For example, primitive life like amoeba breathes very quietly, and its breath has stability and no big change. This breath is going to be changed through long evolution. For example, when they eat or when they are followed by other life, the breath can be changed according to the different situation. And after more remarkable evolution, when the life become more active and start using their brain, there are more variety in breathing like restrained breath and intense breath.  At the same time , we can find that a change of emotion is also related to breath directly.

The movement which can be found from breath is not formed from outside, but shaped from inside of all the lives very naturally. In other words, the movements coming out through breath is a good indication to find the shape of life which exists inside of the life.

In Butoh movement, breath is a very important essence. This time, we are going to find new various movements which come out through breathing.
