Vangeline Stars in Feature Film with Isabella Rossellini and Valeria Golino, Joined by New York Butoh Institute Dancer Sindy Butz

We are thrilled to announce that Butoh will be featured in the upcoming feature film Petrichor, directed by Marco Perego and starring acclaimed actresses Isabella Rossellini and Valeria Golino. The film is written by Alex Dinelaris, Academy Award–winning writer of Birdman.

The Butoh scene is created and choreographed by Vangeline, and will be performed by Vangeline alongside Vangeline Theater dancer Sindy Butz.

In a historic moment for Butoh, the performance will be filmed by Janusz Kamiński, two-time Academy Award–winning cinematographer (Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan) and the long-standing visual collaborator on every Steven Spielberg film since 1993. This marks a rare and unprecedented meeting between the radical, countercultural lineage of Butoh and the highest level of contemporary cinematic craft.

Petrichor will film in New York during the last week of January.

We look forward to sharing more updates soon.
