Mariko Endo was born in Japan and was raised in a traditionally Japanese spiritual manner.  She trained Butoh from 1999 to 2007 in Tokyo, with Akira Kasai, one of the co-founders of the Butoh movement. Master Kasai introduced Rudolf Steiner's Eurythmy to Performing Arts in Japan.  Mariko intensively studied Kasai's Dance Eurythmy Method -the Power of Voice, and has been teaching masterclasses and workshops in NY.  From 2000 to 2004, Mariko toured throughout Japan and the U.S. with Japan’s national Butoh company, Dairakudakan, under the direction of the renown choreographer, Akaji Maro.
In addition to her professional dance experience, she studied Psychology of Child development and works as a Dance Consultant for individuals with special needs. Mariko also teaches Yoga and practices Yogic philosophy interpreted by Sri Aurobindo and his spiritual partner, The Mother.  All which influence her approach to Dance as a Sculpture of Consciousness

Mariko collaborates with international photographers and composers.  She has performed her solo choreography for Mariella C Cordina's Ggantija II at Symphony Space 2016, and solo shoreography for Liz Phillips' Biyuu at Roulette 2012.  Mariko Endo is an artist participant in a Grammy Award recipient and Pulitzer Prize nominee, Joel Thome's new work, JARDIN D'ENFANTS, ENCHANTE`- A global meditation on World Peace.
