Butoh class inspired by Bartenieff Fundamentals with German instructor Sindy Butz.

Bartenieff Fundamentals are the principles for corrective movement and kinesiological functioning.  Concepts and principles will be identified in particular exercises during class and will then be embodied and extended into Butoh Dance for spiritual healing and ecstatic dance.

 

Taught By Sindy Butz

This unique training is an invaluable tool for dancers, actors, adult beginners, encouraging participants to open up and expand physically and energetically. This workshop creates a gentle and supportive environment to start an individual and collective process of investigation through creative movement.
Our classes are open level and beginners are welcome.

Our Butoh classes are by suggested donation. Feel free to donate another amount than the suggested donation.
You can pay for class either:

A native of East Germany, SINDY BUTZ grew up in the suburbs of Berlin and has started her dance education in Ballet, Dance Theater and Folk Dance at the age of 6 in the Dance Theater Strausberg under Nora Jarchow-Dürrenfeld/ Palucca School. She has been performing since the age of 9. After receiving her Master's Degree in Visual Art/AKI Enschede (NL) and Art Science/ UdK Berlin (DE), she focused on Performance Art, Sculptural Installationand Butoh Dance. Since 2010 she has been a principal member for Vangeline Theater in New York. She has performed for Vangeline Theaterat the Brooklyn Museum, Triskelion Arts Brooklyn, Bronx Academy of Art and Dance, Dixon Place, CUNY/City University of New York, Angel Orensaz Foundation and Asian American Art Alliance among others. She has further trained with Katsura Kan, Maureen Fleming, Tadashi Endo, Diego Pinon, Motimaru and is currently pursuing a teacher certification program with Dr. Martha Eddy in BodyMind Dancing™ and Moving for Life® . She has studied Bartenieff and Dynamic Embodiment with Martha Eddy, Dana Davison and other faculty of BMD. Butz has performed and exhibited solo projects nationally and internationally.
