Azumi O E was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan. She was a principal dancer of the New York-based Butoh company Vangeline Theater for over 8 years. She joined Butoh Master Katsura Kan as an assistant choreographer/main dancer on several of his world tours. Her own solo work was presented in New York, Boulder, Beijing, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Helsinki, San Miguel de Allende, Puebla, Stuttgart, and Japan. As an expansion of her Butoh career, she works fine art as a dancer/choreographer for Video Sculpture artist Katja Loher, as an performer for visual/performance artist Ayakamay, collaborates with MARCK for his video art and live performances, and performs on the experimental music scene with Bassist Sean Ali, trio with composer Takuya Nakamura + live visualist Marton Gabor. Azumi is constantly at work on wide range of collaborative and solo projects.

Our classes are open level and beginners are welcome. Our classes are trauma informed; however, we recommend that prior to taking any class, prospective students read our studio policy, particularly students with a history of PTSD or students with any mental health condition.
